From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
